Our green home!

That is Charlie’s phrase. “Our brown home” is the apartment we lived in in Chicago; “our green home” is this little house that just yesterday became ours!

More photos — the “before” tour — can be found here. After we paint walls and buy furniture and install appliances and gut the backyard and…and…and, I’ll update it with the “afters.”

We’re pretty giddy about this house. It has a fascinating history and was extremely well built in the late 1950s. After weeks and months of obsessing about paint colors, I purchased two gallons of paint (the first of many) from the hardware store today! I imagine we’ll be spending a lot of time there. We’re excited to start working toward making this our home.

  8. Jess, a few things:

    1. Is that a new photo at the top of the blog? I love it. I’m assuming there’s a connection with Kansas and “Somewhere Over the Rainbow,” right? Lovely!

    2. Congratulations! Love the photos. Love the house. Beautiful hard wood floors.

    3. Some day, sooner than you imagine, instead of calling it the “green house,” Charlie will be calling this “the house that I grew up in.” So sweet.

    • Hey Jennifer, thanks for the comments! The photo, yes, is of Kansas. Jeff’s dad took it several years ago. I’ve always loved it, but it has even more meaning now that we’re here.
